Fic: Hope
Rating: PG
Media: Fic
Characters: Zeff
Word Count: 233
Prompt: Hope
Looking up he watched the few gulls circle the sky squawking and crying out to each other as they moved further away from him....to the other side of the hell rock.
They were almost taunting him with their presence. Usually the gulls only came out this far if they were dying or had found something to scavenge.
Zeff scoffed in his mind, the mental action actually causing him to lose a little bit of energy. They weren’t here to die. Those damn birds knew there was food on that side of the rock with that drowned brat. The pirate wasn’t sure if there would be anything left now, though. It had been almost twenty-eight days? Or maybe it was closer to a hundred?
Maybe they were scavenging off of what was left of the brat? Desperation could kick into their peanut sized brains especially when those all blue eyes looked tasty. The skin could be a little tough, rubbery even, but they would gulp it back, the blood maybe sweetening the meal.
Groaning at the dull ache that ran through him, Zeff released a stressed breath and hunched over more staring out at the horizon.
He quietly hoped that the scrawny little shit kid would break and make a commotion soon. If only to provide the voice of hope that they had some fight left in them still.
He hoped he wasn’t alone.

I'm glad they had each other, I doubt either would have made it on their own.

This is so wonderfully angsty yet sweet at the same time in retrospect!
