Posted out of contest – because I wanted to write and felt Zoro-ish :D

He loved the throbbing of his arms as he lifted his weights for the three thousand, four hundredth and fifty-third time. He loved the sound of the sea and the breeze that cooled the sweat on his chest as he baked in the midday sun. He loved the feeling of the wood of the deck beneath his feet and his body, solid and steady, moving with one purpose. As he moved, feeling each muscle as it worked in turn, his mind wouldn’t stay focussed. It wandered, skipping over Usopp and Chopper sprawled on the deck, and stopped only when it reached Sanji’s kitchen cupboard.

It was in there.

Zoro had seen it only yesterday.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t go without it. He could. He had before and he would again, it was no big deal. That bottle could stay there for all he cared. He should have planned better though, thought ahead. How could he not make sure that there was enough?

His arms moved, tracing a familiar pattern back through the years. He could probably do his entire training circuit unconscious by now. He tried to focus on his aching shoulders but the picture of the bottle would not shift.

It wasn’t that he needed it. He didn’t. He couldn’t get it anyway. His pride would not survive crawling to that shit-cook and begging it. Oh Sanji, I really want your cooking wine! You know it’s the last bottle on the ship? Oh please!

Zoro scowled and switched arms, still counting reps without even realising it.

Never.

He didn’t need it anyway.

But he wanted it.

And he was starting to see that he might just want it a little too much.
