Summary: When nightmares strike, sometimes it’s the ones around you that suffer!

 

 

Midnight Run

 

Bogart, right-hand man of Vice-Admiral Garp himself, was rumored to never sleep.  Understandable really considering that his men rarely saw him turn in and he always seemed to have a task that kept him on watch late into the night.  His men however were operating under a small misunderstanding: Bogart did sleep, it was just-

 

Blub-blub-blub

 

Bogart jerked awake at the insistent burbling of the Den Den Mushi on his bedside table and blearily stared at his watch.  3:53 AM.

 

He quickly lifted the receiver and stared at the urgent Den Den Mushi in bleary resignation.

 

"Yes sir?"

 

"Bogart!  Tell me, do donuts exist?"

 

Bogart's stoic expression didn't twitch.

 

"Donuts, sir?"

 

"Donuts!  That deep-fried confectionary goodness! Tell me they exist."

 

"May I ask what brought this on, sir?"

 

"I just had the most horrible dream that donuts didn't exist!  No one knew what I was talking about and I was faced with a bleak world that denied me the sweet food of the gods!"

 

Bogart rubbed the bridge of his nose as he replied in deadpan,

 

"Yes sir, donuts exist.  You only had a nightmare, sir."

 

The panicked snail's face relaxed and an audible sigh of relief came over the line.

 

"Oh thank goodness!  Now then, go and fetch me ten dozen donuts immediately!"

 

Bogart was already getting out of bed and pulling on his pants.

 

"More troublesome than Roger's pregnant lover…" He muttered under his breath.

 

"What was that?"

"Nothing, sir.  That was ten dozen donuts, anything else?"

 

"Nah, get yourself a cup of coffee while you're at it!  You were gonna get up in ten minutes anyways, right?"

 

Bogart's lips twitched slightly.  His superior knew him all too well!

 

"Affirmative."

 

I know.  I know.  Garp’s love for donuts was technically only in the anime filler!  Still, he’s never shown favoring any other kind of food, unless you count tea.  Somewhat influenced by a Simpsons episode, but I focused more on Bogart’s end rather than Garp’s!
