Sunday Afternoon
Bellemere smiled peacefully, eyes closed in the shade of her tangerine trees. The smell of orange blossoms floated down through the warm spring air, a light breeze drifting gently across her face.
Nami lay snoring gently on her, small head pillowed on her chest. The three year old still smelled of the blossoms she and Nojiko had picked and proudly presented to her. Bellemere shifted slightly, one hand coming to rest protectively on the girl's orange hair. She opened her eyes briefly to consider the swaying leaves above, and turned slightly to check on her other daughter.
Nojiko sat nearby, playing with the bubbles Genzo had gotten for them. Her eyes were half-shut as she considered the floating translucent orbs drifting away on the breeze. She hummed an odd tune under her breath, smiling lazily in the late afternoon’s warmth.
Bellemere let out a contented sigh. Sometimes, life was good...
I…have no excuses. I just spent the day at the park with my kid sister, enjoying the first sunny day in ages! This thing practically wrote itself!
