Title: The Hunt

Warning: AU... obviously. :P I got my inspiration from when Lucci said he'd go to the ends of the world to capture Robin.

 

They say when a hunter gives chase, he will not give up until the dirt is soaked with blood and the head is hanging proudly from his fist. This can be true in its own self, but when the prey never dies, the hunter only lives a half-life, cursed, forever set on the impossible goal of killing what cannot be killed.

"I will kill you, wretched goddess." Lucci darkly said, calloused hands wrapped around his bow and arrow. 

"Oh? And what of eternity? Obviously you do not have forever, silly mortal." the goddess tilted her head in amusement, fair skin marred with blood and wounds.

“Then I will chase you to the ends of the earth until you die.” the hunter said.

And when a hunter finds his prey, he will sprint to the four winds, running, running, running.

Cold laughter rings in his ears, driving him forever into a blind lust for blood.

"Why- won't- you- die?" Lucci roared, bringing the wicked blade down with each spat word.

The goddess calmly stepped back, one eye bleeding and blood pouring out of deep gashes. "Such meaningless actions will never harm me. I will never die. You will never die."

"Even the gods and goddesses cannot live forever.” Lucci sprung again, slicing a hand off that immediately regenerated.

"Live a curse, mortal. If you enjoy the hunt so much, so be it. Run the course of the earth, run!" the goddess laughed, vanishing into the wind as the hunter roared with anger.

They say that the hunter still sprints against the winds, centuries gone by. When one opens his ears, the mocking laughter of a heavenly being still rings in the air.

 An arrow whizzes by, the goddess laughs, and the hunt resumes.
