Fifty years is a long time. People grow old, children are born, and tastes move on.
When Brook was a member of the Rumbar Pirates, he knew every single member's favourite song (which admittedly was fairly easy, given that about 98% of the crew preferred "Bink's Sake"). Now he has a new crew, and a new set of songs to learn.
While Luffy likes the classics, most of the rest of the crew prefer the music they grew up with. Franky's taste (which leans strongly towards anything emotional involving guitars) and Robin's (quiet, tasteful, and preferably dirge-like piano pieces) have been fairly easy to sort out. However, Brook has been struggling to get to grips with the music preferred by the rest of the "younger generation" on board the Thousand Sunny.
"I am sorry, but I just do not understand..." He says up after a frustrating afternoon of having some of the most popular modern songs explained to him.
"Why would I want a baby to hit me one more time?"
