Zoro, I like thinking about what our final battle will be like. I know how it’ll go.

We’ll travel apart for a long time, you and I. We’ll have our own battles, our own adventures, our own victories and our own defeats. And alone, we will both rise to be the two best known swordsmen in the world.

Thump thump.

And that’s when we’ll meet again.

Thump thump.

We won’t speak to each other, not at first. I will draw my sword, and you yours, and we will raise them, in a silent salute. It’ll be at night, under the moon, just like before.

Thump thump.

I don’t know how the fight will go, but it will go down in history as the greatest swordfight ever seen. It will go on for a long time. Hours. Maybe even an entire day, or more. We won’t notice. It will seem that time itself has stopped to watch our duel.

And one of us will be triumphant.

Thump thump.

I would like if it was I standing over you, Zoro.

Thump thump.

“That’s two thousand and two,” I’d say.

But if you won, I wouldn’t mind. You’re a worthy opponent.
