Fic: Rigged
Nov. 15th, 2011 11:38 amTitle: Rigged
Rating: G
Media: fic
Pairing/Characters: Zoro, Nami, no pairing
Word Count: 297
Prompt: Housework
Nami had done it on purpose. The bet was rigged. It had to be, because there was no way a person could walk from this port's town square to the Sunny in ten minutes. It couldn't be done. Zoro was certain.
For one thing, the "dinky little seaside port," as Nami had put it, was a lot bigger than it looked. And didn't Nami know about the woods, and the river? Some cartographer she was. He'd have to show her the route; set things straight. As soon as he was done with the laundry.
Zoro folded the shirt he was holding with quick, sharp movements, uncaring of the wrinkles he was leaving behind. Definitely rigged. He'd made good time, getting back to the Sunny in just over three hours. How Nami had gotten back first was totally beyond him, and the smug smile she was wearing as he'd climbed over the railing…
He should have known, when Nami had offered him directions, before they parted ways. She must have had a shortcut planned. Regardless, he'd been last back to the ship, where he was honor-bound to waste an afternoon playing housemaid while Nami watched from across the deck, sipping some fruity drink the love-cook had made.
As Zoro finished folding the last of the laundry, Nami sipped her fruity drink and basked in the glow of a bet well made. Even with directions, their swordsman had still managed to get lost, and Nami had gotten out of her turn to do laundry. Sometimes she enjoyed the challenge of a true gamble, but easy money was safe money. She slurped the remains of her drink noisily, ignoring the vicious glare from behind a stack of folded socks, and called out sweetly, "Sanji-kun, another drink, please?"
