And so it was. Blades slashing, fists pounding, blood splattering… the battle was just as intense as any other. A tilt of the head and the bullet intended for him flew by, embedding in the wooden door behind him. He narrowed his eyes as the shooter and returned the shocked expression with a menacing grin. Marines had piled in front of him and he used the mountain of bodies as a springboard to launch himself to the attacker’s location. The cowardly shooter had already gotten a head start but that meant nothing to him. Sidestep left, shuffle right, pirouette, duck! Sweat ran down his face and stung his eyes as he made his way through the fighters. A sword passed in front of his eyes as he paused mid step in his pursuit. The marine’s face fell as he realized his error. He should have taken the pirate down with the first strike. A mangled body lay testament to his failure.
Again, the uncannily 6th sense saved him as another bullet barely missed his heart, though it did knick his bicep slightly. He stared at the blood trickling down his arm and scowled. Damn he hated getting stitched up.
Ignoring the sting of the wound he pressed on after the shooter again. Down an alley, around the carts in the abandoned market, up another flight of stairs, finally to a rooftop with no escape. He let the pleasure show on his face as he closed in on the terrified marine. Fingers fumbled as they shook uncontrollably, trying to reload the pistol. The pirate snatched the gun to the side just as it fired, the heat of the barrel scorching his palm. The sinister grin returned as he spoke to the marine.
“Time to die.”
