Title: Beginning to Never
Rating: PG-13 (swear words)
Media: fiction
Pairing/Characters: Sanji, Usopp
Word Count(if applicable): 217
Prompt: beginnings
The book rested firmly in his hand, its cloth-like spine caressing his rough palm. The cook flipped to the middle, quickly scanning over his own scratchy, slanted writing inside of it.
Puffing at his cigarette, Sanji tried to get the best angle on Usopp. His crewmate sat at an inviting table, telling the crew another load of his bullshit stories, as everyone laughed. The beloved captain Usopp had given him the book months ago, hand-made for Sanji’s birthday. Usopp said he could use it for cooking notes, and in fact, the book was pretty damned useful for that. Still, cooking notes were far from Sanji’s favorite use for it.
Drawing a thick line at the bottom corner of the page, Sanji’s dark eyes focused momentarily on Usopp. He quickly added a circle for a head, then two arms and two legs as required. Sanji always took the most care drawing the nose just right. Just the right length so it was just a bit longer than the last nose he drew in his book.
If he ran his thumb over the corner pages, his little cookbook made one hell of a flipbook too. The nose just grew longer, and to hell if there ever was a day when it didn’t… Beginning to never, Usopp’s stories were endless.
