Rating: G
Media: fiction
Pairing/Characters: Luffy, Nami, LuNa?
Word Count(if applicable): 299
Prompt: beginnings.
Notes: I used the idea of beginnings of words or sentences. It could be LuNa, but I'd just call it a case of Luffy being stupid. This is my second drabble for this prompt, but the more fic, the merrier?

They stood across from each other. A blank look settled on Luffy’s childish face, and Nami’s eyebrows drew close together in subtle annoyance.
The first syllable breathed, Nami attacked it—
“Bu—”
“NO”
“NAMI, THERE’S—”
“There’s nothing!”
“Ah—”
“No,” Nami ground out, slapping back the captain’s rubbery hand, as he pointed toward the forest.
It was hard to get words out when Nami kept cutting him off! A light breeze danced across Luffy’s face, as they stood in the grassy clearing, just outside the forest he wanted to enter. He remembered something he learned awhile ago… from a hero. Sogeking had a certain power that he’d shown Luffy once before. The power… to make women speechless. It was a power Luffy could use right now. Once, Sanji said he had the same power, but Luffy never actually saw Sanji’s power work; yet even now, Luffy could remember Sogeking’s deep, yet airy, uplifting voice instructing him.
“Watch Luffy-kun! The power to render women speechless! It is only one of Sogeking’s many abilities!” The mop fell smoothly and effortlessly down into Sogeking’s waiting arms, and he kissed it with red, happy lips. And the mop was silent!
Nami wasn’t a mop. Luffy turned back to her, grabbing the edge of his hat, as he carefully adjusted it. Still, it was close enough that it should work.
With new determination, Luffy reached out, gently taking Nami by her arms. He felt his navigator strangely freeze, her eyes showing a funny mixture of both confusion and shock.
“Luffy…? What are you—?”
Rubber lips descended onto hers. And seconds later, an echoing scream rang out loud enough to disturb the birds out of faraway trees.
“AHHHHHH!!!” A punch to the head followed it.
Somehow, it never quite worked for him.
