Bad Dream
Nami had a nightmare. She dreamt all of her treasure was gone and that Luffy had eaten all of her tangerine trees – leaves, branches, trunk, everything. Though just a nightmare, she had been compelled to check her treasure and her trees, just to be certain.
The treasure? Safe. Now for her trees.
Her trees were fine, but she spotted someone curled up in a blanket sitting at the base of one of the trunks. “Hello?” Nami asked, softly walking over on the balls of her feet.
They didn’t respond, but the ash tray gave away Sanji’s identity. Nami sat down, surprised to see him staring straight ahead, clutching the blanket’s sides as he rocked himself back and forth on his heels.
“Sanji-kun?” she asked.
“I had a nightmare,” he said softly.
Nami frowned. “It was just a nightmare – dreams can’t hurt you,” she said.
“I dreamt I was THERE again,” he said. He shuddered, lowering his head. A shaky hand reached for the cigarette, almost dropping it several times before it finally reached his lips.
“Where?” asked Nami. “Thriller Bark?” She smiled. “Aw, is Brook giving you nightmares? It’s okay, he’s a nice skeleton – a pervy one but that’s just one more thing you two could bond over.”
“No,” he said. “The island.”
“What island?”
“The rock. The one Zeff and I were trapped on,” He choked on a sob. “Alone. I could see Sunny on the horizon, but no matter how much I screamed she wouldn’t come back to help me. I could hear everyone laughing and singing but where I was it was cold and wet and I could feel my stomach screaming at me and I-”
Sanji didn’t say another word as Nami pulled him into a hug. “It’s okay, Sanji-kun – you’re safe with me.”
