Notes: Spoilers for chapter 574. (This chapter got me too hard to even try to write a reaction post. I'm still not sure what to say, so I drabbled instead.)


Marco tended to take life as it came. He was rarely upset by the obstacles life threw at him – he would take it easy, never letting the spur of the moment get the better of him. He enjoyed life at his leisure. Maybe that’s why the blue fire of the Phoenix had chosen him. Maybe that’s why he would live forever.

But Ace was different. He burned bright and red-hot like a bonfire, acting on his passions, never slowing, never chilling. It was inevitable, really. Bonfires never lasted very long.

Yet when the red fire faded, the blue fire raged.
