Word Count: 100

Summary: Reflections of a dying flame. *SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 574!*
Out Brief Light
They say that your life flashes before your eyes right before you die. They're right in some sense. You see your life, but not linearly from birth to death in one straight line. You perceive moments caught in time.
A warm sticky hand clutched safely in yours.
ACE!
A steadying hand of a smirking phoenix on your shoulder.
Ace!
The smash of a thundering fist in your chest, crunching through vertebrae and sinew.
Ace?
A bellowing warm laugh that sends fiery-hot hatred coursing through your veins.
Ace…?
And you realize: life really was good.
You smile for the last time.
I had something completely different in mind when I started writing for this prompt, but then I oh-so-foolishly peeked at the spoilers and well everyone says angst is the best muse. I'm not as upset as I was when I started writing, which is good, but I still feel kind of hollow. :(
