A random onlooker would note with some bemusement the two young men squatting outside a classroom, peeking stealthily into it through a window. But many students, recognizing the bright red hair and blonde dreadlocks, simply looked amused, the scene being one that they had seen many times before.

“Oh, they’re sitting together today! Looks like they’re discussing something. A project, maybe?”

“Banchina’s so pretty…” Yasopp murmured dreamily.

Shanks started to say something in reply but his attention was drawn by a movement to the side. “Hey, isn’t that…?”

The boys watched, slack-jawed, as a third student joined the two girls’ discussion. The newcomer was welcomed with warm smiles as he dragged a chair over to sit with them.

Shanks’ mouth opened and closed a few times before his voice started working again. “Benn, that sneaky bastard! This is betrayal! Betrayal, I say!”

“Wait, is he exchanging numbers with Banchina!?” Yasopp whispered in quiet outrage.

“I want Makino’s number too…” Shanks whined.

“Well, tough luck. Blame yourself for not getting into the first class.”

Shanks and Yasopp jumped at the new voice that popped up between them. They shot their friend identical dirty looks. “You have no right to talk, Bell-mere. You’re a delinquent.”

The girl looked nonchalant. “Unlike the two of you, I don’t have any motive for entering Class A.”

“What are you brats doing?” an irritated voice cut in from behind. The three Class B students yelped.

“Rayleigh-sensei! Erm, you see…”

“Get back to class!” the teacher snapped.

They bolted upright and sprinted away. “Yes, sir!”

As Shanks started running, he chanced a final glance into the classroom. In that brief moment before she shifted out of sight, he could have sworn that Makino met his eyes with a smile.

“Hey, Shanks, your face is red.”

“Shut up.”

Speaking of him though, he's so lovestruck here, it's cute! For probably obviously biased reasons, I really think he and Banchina are adorable together.
And Shanks turning all red when he and Makino meet eyes, fff. Makino is such a sweetie and I always like seeing her in ficlets~
I feel bad for them though, having to compete with Benn since if the OP fan base is any indication, he's probably a total babe to all the girls~ Somehow I feel like he's getting the girls' numbers FOR Shanks and Yasopp though, since he knows his friends haven't quite gotten brave enough to do it themselves. He seems like the kind of awesome friend who would do that xD
Also aah I like Bell-mere's appearance too; you really captured her troublemaker attitude! She reminds me of Nami so much here that I almost expect her to blackmail the boys for money lol.

Fff and then Rayleigh... gosh it makes me think Roger is the principal. Next thing we know, the next generation we'll have Luffy showing up being all 'I'M GONNA BE KING OF THE STUDENTS'. Okay, I'm done lol!

Glad you liked it! I had an awesome time dreaming up this scenario, though it took me a while to figure out how to end it. These two pairings are definitely among my favourite for One Piece, they're so cute.
And I have the feeling that once you take away the pirate-Marine barrier, Bell-mere could have been great friends with Shanks and co. Definitely potential there. Troublemakers all the way. XD I pity Rayleigh, if he has to deal with these students and Roger. Hahaha.
